President of the National Human Rights Council (CNDH), Maya Fadel Sahli, highlighted this Wednesday in Algiers the significant care the State provides to children through the national protection system and its various care mechanisms.
In a press statement on the sidelines of her visit to several institutions dedicated to child protection and welfare in Algiers to mark National Children’s Day, Ms. Fadel Sahli emphasized the priority the State accords to children. She specifically noted the national legal framework and the mechanisms adopted for their care, praising the "role of various stakeholders in ensuring child welfare and safeguarding their rights, in line with the principle of the best interests of the child."
In the same context, she reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to "supporting national efforts aimed at strengthening child rights," stressing that the CNDH is dedicated to "continuing its efforts in protecting and promoting child rights as an integral part of the human rights system and a national priority that requires the combined efforts of all actors."
She further explained that this field visit was intended to celebrate National Children’s Day with the children, review the care and welfare measures implemented within these institutions, and enhance communication and coordination between the National Human Rights Council and child protection bodies.
During the visit, the President of the Council toured departments and services dedicated to children at the Mustapha Pacha University Hospital Center (CHU). She then visited an institution for assisted children and a specialized center for the protection of children at risk.
On-site, the Council President reviewed the various reception, care, and welfare measures provided to these children. She also listened to detailed explanations regarding the services offered, commending the extensive efforts made to ensure proper child care and support.
