The Ministry of Post and Telecommunications has issued a commemorative postage stamp to mark National Algerian Muslim Scouts Day, observed annually on May 27, according to a ministry statement on Saturday.
This commemorative stamp features the portrait of the founder of the Muslim Scout movement in Algeria, the Martyr Mohamed Bouras, who established the first scout troop in Algeria in 1930. He sacrificed his life for the homeland and was executed by the French occupation at dawn on May 27, 1941.
The issuance, which includes a philatelic card, serves as a tribute to the memory of the Martyr Mohamed Bouras and honors the long and prestigious history of the Algerian Scouts, the statement added.
