The final deadline for submitting the files of new candidates designated to replace rejected candidacies, ahead of the upcoming July 2 legislative elections, is set for June 6, 2026, the Independent National Authority of Elections (ANIE) announced in a statement on Saturday.

Candidate lists containing one or more rejected candidacies "are required, upon notification of the rejection decision, to submit a file for a new candidate (replacement) to allow for its review and a ruling on their candidacy. This must take into account the situation of the rejected candidate should they file an appeal within the legal time limit, which is three days from the date of notification of the rejection decision," ANIE recalled.

"In the event that the administrative court of appeal issues a favorable decision for the candidate whose candidacy was rejected, they are reinstated on the candidate list and the new candidacy (replacement) becomes void. Conversely, if the administrative court of appeal confirms the rejection decision, the concerned candidate is replaced by the new candidate whose candidacy has been accepted," the same source specified.

"The process of submitting new replacement candidacies will continue up to a deadline not exceeding 25 days prior to polling day, with the final deadline for submitting a new candidacy set for June 6, 2026," ANIE added.
