The Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, received on Wednesday in Algiers the Secretary-General of the International Organization for Mediation, Ms. Teresa Cheng, who is on an official visit to Algeria, according to a statement from the ministry.
During the meeting held at the ministry’s headquarters, Ms. Cheng reviewed the progress made in establishing the foundations of this international organization and its objectives in promoting the peaceful resolution of disputes and strengthening international cooperation. She praised Algeria’s historical role and its traditions as a reliable and credible nation in the field of mediation, the statement added.
In this context, both parties emphasized the organization's role in institutionalizing mediation, given its qualitative contribution to promoting international and regional peace and security. They also agreed to further develop cooperation between Algeria and the International Organization for Mediation, according to the same source.
