The former Secretary-General of the United Nations and Chair of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), Mr. Ban Ki-moon, visited Oued Smar Park in the capital this Wednesday. He was accompanied by the Minister of Environment and Quality of Life, Ms. Kaouter Krikou, according to a statement from the ministry.
The visit took place on the sidelines of Mr. Ban Ki-moon's stay in Algeria. During the tour, the Minister provided a briefing on this pioneering strategic environmental landmark and its various facilities, which embody Algeria's vision for establishing the principles of sustainable development.
The visit, which was attended by the Wali Delegate of the El Harrach administrative district, Abdelouahab Zini, served as an opportunity to highlight national efforts in ecosystem protection and the promotion of innovative projects that balance development requirements with the preservation of natural resources, the statement added.
