Music and dance performances showcasing European musical diversity will headline the 26th edition of the European Music Festival in Algeria, scheduled for June 13 to 16 at the Mahieddine-Bachtarzi Algerian National Theatre (TNA), organizers announced on Wednesday.
Speaking at a press conference dedicated to presenting the festival's program, the Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to Algeria, Mr. Diego Mellado, specified that this edition will host seven EU countries with a program rich in music and dance.
"This major annual event embodies the dynamism of cultural cooperation between Algeria and Europe by offering a space for dialogue where music transcends borders and reflects the shared desire to make culture a lasting bridge between societies," Mr. Mellado stated.
He continued that the festival constitutes "a true space for dialogue and exchange, contributing to the encouragement of creativity and the strengthening of experience-sharing between European and Algerian musicians."
The Croatian disco-pop group "Kli Klop," along with Maltese artist Kim Pepe, will headline the opening night, while the Bulgarian jazz trio "Wladigeroff" will perform for the closing ceremony, he added.
In addition to the music and dance performances, the festival offers educational workshops intended for musical associations and music students to promote the sharing of skills between Algerian and European musicians.
Organized since 2000 by the Delegation of the European Union in Algeria in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Arts and the TNA, the European Music Festival aims to promote multicultural artistic exchanges.
