Algeria and Egypt signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Monday in Cairo aimed at strengthening scientific and technological cooperation in the fields of pharmaceuticals and medical devices, according to a statement from the Ministry of Pharmaceutical Industry.
The agreement was signed during the Africa Health ExCon 2026 event held in Egypt, where Algeria is participating with a delegation led by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Pharmaceutical Industry, Nacer Hamani, representing the sector’s Minister, Ouacim Kouidri.
On the Algerian side, the MoU was signed by the Director General of the National Agency for Pharmaceutical Products (ANPP), Delih Cherif, and on the Egyptian side by the President of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), Ali El-Ghamrawy, in the presence of the Egyptian Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouli, the statement read.
The memorandum primarily provides for the commitment of both parties to provide mutual technical support to strengthen the regulatory and control capabilities of Algeria and Egypt, as well as the mutual recognition between the two authorities.
