NEW YORK (United Nations) - Persistent restrictions and closures of border crossings by the Zionist occupation continue to hinder the delivery of essential supplies to the Gaza Strip, the UN stated on Monday.
UN Spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric explained that humanitarian organizations are unable to deliver aid to the crossings due to their closure and restrictions on certain types of supplies.
"Data from the United Nations 2720 mechanism shows a decline in the overall volume of supplies that we and our partners were able to deliver last month, amounting to less than 42,000 pallets, compared to about 46,600 in May," he said.
The mechanism, authorized by Security Council Resolution 2720 (2023), aims to accelerate the delivery of aid to the enclave. Humanitarian organizations register planned aid shipments on a portal and database that allows them to be tracked.
Mr. Dujarric added that last week, only 42% of the supplies were able to be unloaded, even though they had "already been approved in principle."
