The Ministry of Youth announced in a statement yesterday, Tuesday, that in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Arts, it is launching the "Open-Air Cinema for Youth" program across various wilayas of the country, starting today, Wednesday, until August 31st.

The same source explained that "in implementation of the instructions of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, given during the Cabinet meeting held last March 8th, to strengthen coordination between the youth and culture and arts sectors in order to prepare programs that meet the aspirations and needs of Algerian youth while involving them in their organization and management, the 'Open-Air Cinema for Youth' program will be launched under the slogan 'Cinema for All' from July 15 to August 31 across various wilayas of the country."

This program comes within the framework of "realizing the public policy aimed at promoting cultural activity and expanding opportunities for cultural access by bringing the seventh art closer to citizens, especially the youth. This is achieved by organizing film screenings in open spaces and youth institutions, ensuring that citizens in urban, rural, and desert areas benefit, and enshrining the principle of cultural justice and equal access to artistic activities."

According to the statement, the initiative is based on "combining film screenings with cultural activities and training through interactive workshops and educational activities preceding and following the screenings. This aims to spread cinematic culture, introduce audiovisual industry professions, discover young talent, develop critical and creative senses, and foster dialogue on societal issues, thereby contributing to consolidating the values of citizenship and cultural participation."

The program targets "various segments of society, with special attention paid to youth, in addition to children and adolescents, through a diverse cinematic programming that takes into account age and cultural specificities, making cinema an open space for learning, purposeful entertainment, and community interaction."

This event also reflects "the keenness of the youth and culture and arts sectors to establish a culture of proximity, expand the circle of benefit from cultural activities, and provide creative spaces for youth across various parts of the nation, thereby enhancing the presence of culture in daily life and contributing to building a more aware, open, and cohesive society," according to the same source.
