The pre-registration and orientation process for new baccalaureate holders (2026 session) will begin this Wednesday, conducted exclusively via the dedicated digital platform, and will continue until July 19.

Baccalaureate holders must access the pre-registration website at https://orientation-esi.dz or by scanning the QR code available on the site. Using their registration number and the secret baccalaureate code found on their transcript, they can view the list of programs for which they are eligible and then fill out their preference list in order of priority among the authorized choices.

According to Ministerial Circular No. 01 concerning the orientation and registration of 2026 baccalaureate holders—which establishes the general rules governing this process—student orientation is based on several key criteria. These include the baccalaureate stream, the weighted average or general average (depending on the field or training stream), the candidate’s preferences, the intake capacity of higher education institutions, and geographic districts (wilaya-based).

The adopted system allows new students to enroll in either face-to-face or distance learning programs, in accordance with current regulations. It also offers them, subject to meeting the required conditions, the opportunity to simultaneously pursue two different training courses to obtain a double degree, depending on available programs and pedagogical spots.

The preference lists submitted via the platform will undergo automated processing based on the adopted orientation criteria before results are posted on the website.

Students must then finalize their registration by paying the registration fees electronically through the "Progress" platform. If none of the expressed choices are met, a second pre-registration phase will open, allowing the candidate to fill out a new wish list according to set conditions. Final registration will follow the payment of fees via the "Eddahabia" card on the digital platform.

As part of the modernization of the university orientation system, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has introduced a series of new measures. These include the launch of an application dedicated to calculating the weighted average, increasing the number of possible choices to 12, and integrating an artificial intelligence language model into the digital orientation platform to answer student questions 24/7, while utilizing data mining techniques to improve the accuracy of the orientation process.
