Commissioned by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the President of the Council of the Nation, Mr. Azouz Nasri, presented condolences on Wednesday in Doha to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the brotherly State of Qatar, following the passing of the Father Emir Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, according to a statement from the Council.
"Commissioned by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the President of the Council of the Nation, Mr. Azouz Nasri, presented condolences on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the brotherly State of Qatar, following the passing of the Father Emir Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, at the Lusail Palace in Doha," the source specified.
During the condolence ceremony, Mr. Nasri conveyed to His Highness the Emir of Qatar "the most sincere condolences of the President of the Republic and his deep feelings of compassion, praying to Almighty God to surround the deceased with His infinite mercy, welcome him into His vast paradise, and grant the ruling family and the brotherly people of Qatar patience and solace."
He also delivered a letter from his brother, the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, "containing his sincere condolences and deep feelings of compassion following the passing of the late Emir, may God surround him with His holy mercy."
On this occasion, the President of the Council of the Nation recalled the qualities of the deceased, who "dedicated his life to the service of his country and his people, and led the march of development that allowed the State of Qatar to occupy a prominent position on the regional and international levels." He added that "through his wisdom and foresight, he contributed to anchoring the culture of dialogue, mediation, and the establishment of peace, in addition to his humanitarian efforts which earned him esteem and recognition."
He also highlighted "the depth of the fraternal and historical relations that united His Highness the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani with Algeria and its people, as well as the positive impact and noble positions he left behind, which will remain engraved in memory," renewing, on behalf of the President of the Republic, "his sincere condolences and deep compassion to the leaders of the State of Qatar and its brotherly people," according to the statement.
The President of the Council of the Nation was received by His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Thani, Deputy Emir of the State of Qatar; His Highness Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, Personal Representative of the Emir; His Excellence Hassan bin Abdullah Al-Ghanim, President of the Shura Council; and His Excellence Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, alongside several sons of the late Father Emir and Their Excellencies the Sheikhs.
As a reminder, Mr. Nasri is accompanied by the Minister of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transport, Mr. Saïd Sayoud; the Secretary General of the Ministry of National Defense, Major General Mohamed Salah Benbicha; the Chief of Staff of the President of the Council of the Nation, Professor Makhlouf Sahel; and the Acting Director of the Arab Mashreq and the Arab League at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, Mr. Ihsane Naouk.
