The Resident Director of the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) in Algeria, Mrs. Elke Förster, stressed that the official visit paid by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to Germany constitutes a new milestone in the process of deepening the bilateral partnership, and an opportunity to reaffirm shared priorities for the future and explore new horizons for cooperation.

In a statement to the Algeria Press Service (APS), she reported that this two-day presidential visit, which began yesterday, Wednesday, falls within the framework of "a new dynamic and constitutes a new stage to deepen this partnership. It also provides an opportunity to continue the dialogue, reaffirm common priorities for the future, and explore new horizons for cooperation."

In this context, she pointed out that cooperation between Germany and Algeria "has strengthened significantly in recent years, based on a dialogue built on trust and shared priorities, particularly in the fields of energy transition, economic diversification, and vocational training."

She also recalled that Algerian-German cooperation has expanded to cover the fields of green hydrogen and climate action, as well as innovation, emphasizing that this cooperation will continue to evolve and that new programs will be launched in the future to support this cooperative dynamic.

In this regard, she highlighted that the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) "stands ready to support the implementation of the guidelines that will be defined by both governments, in close cooperation with its Algerian institutional partners, drawing on its long experience and decades-long presence in Algeria."

The official highlighted the "real potential" that Algeria possesses to deepen and expand cooperation with Germany, recalling that the two countries have implemented several joint projects in recent years, such as the "TaqatHy+" project, dedicated to the development of green hydrogen and renewable energies.

Mrs. Förster also praised the outcomes of the projects completed in Algeria with the support of GIZ, describing them as "extremely positive," and noting that the programs implemented with Algerian partners have yielded tangible achievements across several strategic sectors.

In this context, she pointed out that the "Green Municipalities" project, implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of the Interior, Local Authorities, and Transport, allowed for the installation of solar panels on public buildings in a number of the country's municipalities, enabling the saving of approximately 3,614 megawatt-hours (MWh) of electricity.

She also highlighted the results achieved in the field of vocational education and training, thanks to cooperation with the Ministry of Vocational Education and Training, which in turn contributes to aligning qualifications with labor market needs and strengthening the technical skills necessary to diversify the Algerian economy and boost its competitiveness.

In this context, she touched upon the "Development of Digital and Green Entrepreneurship in Algeria" project, implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, Start-ups, and Micro-enterprises, aimed at supporting the development of an innovative start-up ecosystem.

Mrs. Förster added that these examples and joint projects demonstrate "how technical cooperation contributes to achieving concrete results, while encouraging innovation, economic development, and capacity building," highlighting that "the most encouraging results undoubtedly lie in the sustainable adoption of these approaches by our Algerian partners, who continue to implement them independently today."

The official also explained that renewable energies, vocational education and training, and digital transformation will remain at the heart of cooperation priorities between the two countries in the coming years, stressing that GIZ will maintain its commitment alongside Algerian partners to support these transitions, with the aim of promoting sustainable and inclusive development and creating opportunities for institutions, businesses, and youth.
