The Civil Protection services managed to extinguish 91 fires out of 103 fires during the last 24 hours, according to a report released today, Saturday, by the General Directorate of Civil Protection.
Regarding the specific situation of fires in forests, scrublands, brushlands, agricultural crops, and palm oases during the last 24 hours up until 07:00, the same source explained that the Civil Protection services "recorded 103 fires, 91 of which were extinguished."
It added in the same context that Civil Protection personnel "are continuing their efforts to extinguish 12 fires in the wilayas of Souk Ahras (01), Skikda (02), Bouira (01), El Tarf (01), Constantine (01), Saïda (01), Mila (01), Bordj Bou Arréridj (01), Béjaïa (01), and Jijel (01)."
As for the wilaya of Souk Ahras, the fire "currently affects three communes: Merahna, El Heddada, and Sidi Fredj, and it also threatens some houses in the communes of Sidi Fredj and El Heddada, where several families were evacuated as a precautionary measure, with a field protection apparatus mobilized," according to the same source.
