The High Commissioner for Digitalization with the rank of minister, Mrs. Meriem Benmouloud, held talks on Sunday in Algiers with the Undersecretary at the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology of the Sultanate of Oman, Mr. Ali bin Amur Al Shidhani, and his accompanying delegation, on ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the field of digital transformation through the launch of joint projects.
On this occasion, Mrs. Benmouloud reviewed the main pillars of the national digital transformation strategy, as well as the Algerian experience in digital infrastructure, digital services, digital identity, and data centers.
The High Commissioner also highlighted the progress made by Algeria in the fields of digital transformation, telecommunications infrastructure, and e-government as essential pillars of sustainable development, expressing "her readiness to open new investment prospects, promote the exchange of expertise, and oversee high-quality joint projects in the fields of innovation, smart services, and human capacity building."
She further noted that "discussions are underway to examine ways to implement projects related to digital transformation paths, particularly the acceleration of digital services, the development of telecommunications, and artificial intelligence."
According to Mrs. Benmouloud, exchanges between the two parties should "lead, in the near future, to concrete agreements reflecting this comprehensive cooperation on the ground."
For his part, Mr. Al Shidhani reviewed the strategy of the Sultanate of Oman in the digital economy, which is based on "institutional integration between the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology in charge of policies and strategic orientations, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, as well as the investment arm represented by companies under the Oman Investment Authority."
He also expressed his country's readiness "to establish flexible partnerships covering all levels, both between the public sectors and between the companies of the two countries, with a particular focus on fields related to artificial intelligence, data centers, resource management solutions, financial technologies, and space sciences."
This visit is an extension of the high directives of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and his brother, the Sultan of Oman, Haitham bin Tariq, in accordance with the shared vision agreed upon during the visit to Algeria last May by the Omani Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, Said bin Hamoud Al Maawali.
The Omani delegation is scheduled to visit the National Higher School of Artificial Intelligence (ENSIA) in Sidi Abdellah (Algiers) later today.
