The Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, received Peter Pi, CEO of the Chinese group Anton, along with his accompanying delegation, yesterday, Monday, in Algiers. During the meeting, Mr. Pi expressed the group's interest in strengthening its presence in Algeria through long-term projects and partnerships, according to a statement from the ministry.
The meeting took place at the ministry's headquarters and was attended by the CEO of Sonatrach, Noureddine Daoudi, the Director of the National Agency for the Valorization of Hydrocarbon Resources (ALNAFT), Samir Bakhti, as well as senior executives from the sector.
The gathering provided an opportunity to exchange views on prospects for investment, cooperation, and partnership in the hydrocarbons sector. Discussions focused particularly on exploration and production activities, hydrocarbon transport, the development of oil and gas fields using modern technologies, and energy infrastructure projects and their maintenance, with the aim of improving profitability and enhancing technical and economic efficiency.
Following a detailed presentation by Anton executives regarding the group's activities and international experience in the oil and gas industry, the Minister of State outlined the broad lines of Algeria’s hydrocarbon sector development program. He highlighted the available investment opportunities, in addition to the advantages and incentives offered by the legal framework governing hydrocarbon activities, specifically regarding investment attractiveness and partnerships based on technology transfer and value creation.
Mr. Arkab welcomed the deepening of technical and institutional consultations between Sonatrach and ALNAFT on one side, and the Anton group on the other, aimed at defining potential areas of cooperation and exploring concrete, mutually beneficial investment opportunities.
For his part, Anton's CEO reaffirmed the group's interest in reinforcing its presence in Algeria through practical and sustainable projects based on the use of internationally recognized cutting-edge technologies. He further expressed a commitment to contributing to the development of the national hydrocarbons sector within the framework of long-term partnerships founded on the exchange of expertise and the advancement of common interests.
