The A3+ group at the United Nations Security Council (Algeria, Somalia, Sierra Leone, and Guyana) warned on Monday evening in New York that the recognition of "Somaliland" by the Zionist entity constitutes a grave precedent that threatens regional and international peace and security, demanding its withdrawal.

Speaking on behalf of the A3+ members during a Security Council session on threats to international peace and security, the Permanent Representative of Somalia to the United Nations, Abukar Dahir Osman, reiterated his condemnation of the "flagrant infringement" by the Zionist entity against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Somalia through the recognition of "Somaliland," which constitutes an integral and indivisible part of Somalia.

At the outset, Mr. Dahir Osman expressed his gratitude to the Security Council presidency for convening this meeting on short notice at the request of the three African countries, joined by China, Pakistan, and Russia.

This recognition of "Somaliland" constitutes "a flagrant violation of the United Nations Charter, the fundamental principles of the African Union (AU), and the foundation of international law, as well as the sovereignty and territorial integrity of States," he stated.

"This act of aggression aims to encourage the fragmentation of Somali territory, notably the northeastern region, which constitutes an integral and indivisible part of this country, risking the destabilization of the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea region," he warned.

For this reason, he said, it must be unequivocally rejected and condemned by all member countries of the Security Council, demanding the withdrawal of this recognition by the Zionist entity.

The group also joined its voice to the recent communiqué signed by the Chairperson of the African Union Commission regarding the categorical rejection of any attempt to question the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Somalia.

In this context, the Permanent Representative of Somalia called on all Security Council members to adopt a unified position against this illegal action, which "undermines the foundations of international law." He took the opportunity to commend all bilateral and regional partners who have expressed their support and firm commitment to the territorial integrity, unity, and independence of Somalia.

Furthermore, the A3+ group unequivocally rejects any measure aiming to facilitate the forced displacement of Palestinians to other countries, including attempts by the Zionist entity to displace the Palestinian people from Gaza to northeastern Somalia.

"These actions are not only illegal but also unacceptable and reprehensible," he insisted, recalling, in this regard, the opinions of the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

On this occasion, the A3+ reaffirmed their firm support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, notably their right to self-determination and a homeland in accordance with the two-state solution. They called once again on the international community to assume its responsibilities under the United Nations Charter and to reject any act capable of infringing upon the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of Somalia, or the rights of the Palestinian people through illegal methods.
