In its January issue, El Djeich Magazine affirmed that Algerians, as they welcome the new year with unwavering resolve, determination, and ambition to continue forging the path towards building the victorious New Algeria, are called upon more than ever to strengthen cohesion and national unity. This, it stated, will enable them to overcome all challenges and confront various threats.
In its editorial, titled "A New Year with Stronger Resolve," the magazine noted that "with the close of 2025, Algeria will have concluded its two-year tenure as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council. During this term, it waged marathon diplomatic battles with astuteness and steadfastness, championing just causes."
It added that Algeria "stood as the voice of truth and justice, advocating for the Palestinian cause. It spared no effort in mobilizing the international community to halt the savage Zionist aggression against the Gaza Strip, vehemently condemning the horrific massacres and inhumane crimes perpetrated against the Palestinian people. Simultaneously, it persistently called for the establishment of a Palestinian state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital."
El Djeich Magazine further stated: "Our nation also persisted in defending the Western Sahara cause and the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination, exposing the ongoing violations by the Moroccan occupier, who has flagrantly disregarded all international conventions. Furthermore, during its Security Council tenure, Algeria served as a resounding and sincere voice for Africa's interests and aspirations. It strongly opposed the continent's policy of marginalization, stressing the imperative of rectifying the historical injustice it endures and insisting on the necessity of unifying the African front. These honorable positions garnered the commendation and trust of Africans, a trust manifested in Algeria's election as Vice-President of the African Union Commission and a member of the African Union Peace and Security Council."
The editorial highlighted that Algeria "truly proved worthy of this trust. This was embodied through its tireless efforts to bolster security and development in Africa, by hosting numerous regional events that had a profoundly positive impact on the continent and its peoples. Examples include the 12th High-Level Seminar on Peace and Security in Africa – the Oran Process, the International Conference on Colonial Crimes in Africa, the 4th Edition of the Intra-African Trade Fair, and the 4th African Conference for Startups. This role was also evident through its membership in various international bodies, such as the United Nations Economic and Social Council."
It asserted that "these successes achieved by our nation at both regional and international levels are occurring amidst the significant developmental momentum observed across various sectors, including energy, mining, infrastructure, housing, and health. This momentum is reflected in major realized achievements and rapidly accelerating economic and social gains, all thanks to the mobilization of all Algerians, particularly the youth. The youth receive full support and nurturing to serve as the driving force propelling our country toward its desired destination and achieving further triumphs."
In this regard, the editorial recalled the affirmation of the President of the Republic, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and Minister of National Defence, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, in his New Year 2026 felicitations to the Algerian people. He stated that "the new year will, God willing, be a source of pride and elevation for all Algerian men and women, owing to the accomplishments and sacrifices of our people across various domains, enabling Algeria to safely join the ranks of emerging nations."
The magazine asserted that "what has been achieved is certainly no mere coincidence, but rather the fruit of the sound vision of the nation's highest authorities, headed by Mr. the president of the republic coupled with the awareness and determination of the Algerian people to advance our country and establish its strong foundations, and the concerted efforts of all state institutions."
In this context, the editorial reviewed "the steadfast and dedicated efforts of the People's National Army (PNA), the heir of the National Liberation Army. The PNA is committed to securing all requirements to enhance its operational readiness, elevate its combat capabilities, and ensure all necessities for safeguarding the nation's security, stability, and citizens' tranquility. Furthermore, it contributes significantly to national development efforts, ensuring the unwavering continuation of the national revival project amidst stability and serenity. This commitment is evidenced by the qualitative results achieved last year across various fronts."
Within this framework, the magazine recalled the successes achieved in counter-terrorism, organized crime, and border security. These achievements "underscore the perpetual readiness of our armed forces across the entire national territory to thwart all attempts to compromise the security of our nation and its people, and to preserve national sovereignty. This is a sacred duty and a source of legitimate pride for our valiant personnel."
The editorial then referred to the commendation by Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defence, Chief of Staff of People's National Army Saïd Chengriha, in his New Year greetings to PNA personnel. He emphasized "the duty to redouble efforts in combating the remaining terrorist remnants, particularly through initiative, intelligent action, and shrewdness, enabling us to collectively eradicate this heinous scourge permanently from our pure land. Furthermore, it stressed the importance of foiling attempts by organized crime kingpins to flood our country with all types of drugs and poisons, as well as frustrating all malicious schemes that threaten our territorial and popular unity and the security and stability of Algeria. Algeria, he declared, will remain, until God inherits the Earth and all upon it, majestic, cherished, and victorious over its adversaries."
The magazine concluded its editorial by stating: "As we welcome the New Year 2026 with full resolve, determination, and ambition to continue forging our path towards building the victorious New Algeria and completing its promising journey of development, progress, and advancement, we are called upon more than ever to strengthen our cohesion, harmony, and national unity. This requires a motivated spirit, imbued with a profound sense of responsibility, duty, and unwavering loyalty to the homeland. Such a spirit will empower us to overcome all challenges, confront various threats, and sever the path of anyone who desperately attempts to tamper with our nation's security and stability. Thus, the Land of Martyrs shall remain, despite the machinations of the envious, a protected, strong, unified, and victorious oasis of security."
