The Algerian under-23 (U23) national team will hold a new preparation camp from June 1 to 10 in Annaba, during the June FIFA international window, in preparation for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers for this category, the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) indicated on Wednesday.

During this gathering, national coach Rafik Saifi's players will play two friendly matches against Mauritania, scheduled for June 5 and 9 starting at 6:00 p.m. at the 19 Mai 1956 Stadium in Annaba.

This training camp is part of the U23 "Greens'" preparations for the U23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, with the qualifying matches scheduled for next September.

The technical staff is expected to take advantage of this double encounter to evaluate the group's state of preparation and make final adjustments before the start of the continental qualifying campaign.

The U23 national team was established with the objective of qualifying for the football tournament at the upcoming 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

As a reminder, the last Algerian participation in an Olympic football tournament dates back to the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics.
