The President of the National People's Assembly (APN), Mr. Brahim Boughali, received the President of the Pan-African Parliament, Mr. Fateh Boutbig, on Wednesday in Algiers, according to a press release from the APN.
The meeting provided an opportunity to "review the state and prospects of African parliamentary cooperation, as well as the means to strengthen coordination and consultation between the continent's legislative institutions, in the service of common causes and the consolidation of the principles of African solidarity and integration," the same source specified.
The two parties also discussed several issues of common interest, emphasizing the importance of activating parliamentary diplomacy to support development and stability efforts in Africa.
On this occasion, Mr. Boughali reaffirmed "the APN's support for the efforts made by the Pan-African Parliament to strengthen joint parliamentary action," the press release added.
He also highlighted "Algeria's commitment, under the leadership of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to supporting African action and promoting mechanisms for cooperation and integration among African states, in a manner that responds to the aspirations of African peoples for development, security, and prosperity."
