The President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, received on Wednesday a phone call from his brother, the President of the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt, Mr. Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, who expressed his condolences and solidarity, on his own behalf and on behalf of Egypt's people, government, and institutions, following the recent fires in Algeria, the Presidency of the Republic said in a statement.
"Today, the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, received a phone call from his brother, Mr. Abdel Fattah el-Sissi, President of the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt, in which he expressed his condolences and solidarity, on his own behalf and on behalf of Egypt’s people, government, and institutions, following the fires in Algeria which left casualties," the statement read.
The two leaders also "reviewed the excellent bilateral relations between Algeria and Egypt and discussed the situation in Palestine, the Middle East, the Gulf, and the Arab world, expressing the need to strive for a peaceful resolution to all conflicts and tensions in the region."
The call was also "an opportunity to address the situation in sisterly Libya and the necessity of working to overcome the current difficult situation."
Finally, "the two presidents agreed to hold a meeting soon," the statement concluded.
