Philippe Lazzarini, the Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), confirmed that more than 600,000 children in Gaza have been deprived of formal education for more than two years, due to the near-total destruction of infrastructure and the critical conditions left by the Zionist aggression on the Strip.

In a post on social media, Philippe Lazzarini noted that these children are living through deep trauma amidst the rubble, and that returning them to a safe learning environment is a top priority for UNRWA.

He explained that currently, there are 65,000 children in UNRWA's temporary learning spaces in Gaza, in addition to approximately 300,000 other children receiving basic lessons in reading, writing, and arithmetic via digital platforms.

UNRWA provides its relief, health, and educational services to Palestine refugees in its areas of operation, despite the harassment campaigns it faces from the Zionist occupation, coinciding with its aggression on the Strip.

The death toll of the Zionist aggression on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, has risen to 71,654 martyrs and 171,391 injured, the majority of whom are children and women, according to Palestinian health authorities yesterday, Saturday.

They explained that the total number of victims since the ceasefire last October reached 481 martyrs and 1,313 injured, with 713 bodies recovered.

Over more than two years, the Zionist occupation has committed genocide in Gaza, including killing, starvation, destruction, and displacement, ignoring international appeals and the orders of the International Court of Justice to stop it.
