Minister of Communication Zoheir Bouamama called on Saturday for the national press specializing in the field of education to adapt with professionalism to the requirements of the new phase, aligning with the ambitious objectives set by public authorities to promote the quality of academic performance.
Speaking at the opening of a training day for journalists interested in educational issues—organized at the Ministry of Communication headquarters in partnership with the Ministry of National Education to mark the International Day of Education—Mr. Bouamama emphasized that the specialized national press, which has supported this sensitive sector since the beginning, is called upon today to adapt to the requirements of the new phase. He stressed the need for high professionalism to match the authorities' goals of enhancing school performance and strengthening educational system reforms in accordance with current challenges.
The Minister noted that specialized media play a crucial role in raising awareness regarding the challenges facing the educational system.
In this regard, the Minister added that this media sector possesses several characteristics that require content producers to have precise knowledge of the subjects being treated, given the sensitivity of the field. He stressed that the task goes beyond merely writing articles; it involves handling files that sometimes intersect with the pedagogical process and its specifics, school curricula and their content, as well as issues related to educational security and its implications.
Marking the celebration of the International Day of Education, Mr. Bouamama highlighted the significant efforts deployed by the Algerian State in this strategic sector, praising the achievements made and the qualitative leap that have allowed Algeria to occupy prominent positions at the regional and continental levels.
For his part, the Minister of National Education, Mr. Mohammed Seghir Sadaoui, reiterated the importance of media support for the National Education sector. He insisted on his department's openness to the media to provide necessary data and ensure a calm treatment of various sector files.
He added that this support contributes to achieving harmony between the educational and media communities, enabling the media to understand sector policies, thereby fostering an informed debate on educational issues.
In this context, the Minister of National Education underscored the importance of strengthening exchanges between media professionals and the services within his sector, as well as the need to agree on certain terms specific to the sector while avoiding inappropriate generalizations.
He also recalled the special attention paid to the educational community by the country's high authorities, led by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune. He affirmed that the educational system, tasked with raising generations and preparing them for the future, ensures the fulfillment of its missions with integrity across 30,000 educational institutions nationwide.
Regarding training related to integration, Mr. Sadaoui clarified that it was provided for by the special statute in force. He added that its duration has been reduced to the strict minimum, given its exceptional nature, with an adaptation of the program during the month of Ramadan, reaffirming the Ministry's willingness to enable the largest number of civil servants to benefit from integration.
For their part, speakers at the training day presented the policy adopted by the National Education sector, reviewing the missions of the Algerian School regarding the education and sensitization of citizens, the anchoring of national values, the strengthening of national identity, and the preservation of social stability.
Explanations were also provided regarding the management of the sector to clear up any ambiguity surrounding certain information circulating in the educational environment and within society, particularly in light of the diversity of social media platforms.
