The Algerian national sailing teams concluded their campaign at the 2026 Arab Championships, which wrapped up Sunday evening in Soma Bay (Egypt), with a haul of ten (10) medals (4 Gold, 3 Silver, and 3 Bronze).

The first Algerian gold medal was won by windsurfer Hammouche Abderrahmane in the Bic-Techno 7.8 class, following a race dominated by the Algerian contingent. He finished ahead of his compatriots Walid Bouchebbah, who took silver, and Youcef Guelbi, who secured the bronze.

The second gold medal was claimed by Ramy Boudrouma in the IQFoil series, a discipline in which his teammate Ramzi Boudjatit won the bronze medal.

The remaining two gold medals were secured by Mazen Merouani in the Bic Techno 8.5 category and his teammate Touazi Dassine in the girls' division.

Abdelkhalek Boussouar earned the second silver medal for Algeria in the ILCA 7 class, confirming the strong overall performance of the national representatives.

The third silver medal went to Naila Serine Boukazzoula in the girls' ranking, while her compatriot Touazi Dassine settled for bronze.

Fielding a squad of 18 male and female athletes, the Algerian teams competed in these Arab Championships across several specialties: IQFoil, ILCA, Bic-Techno, and Optimist.

The Algerian delegation in Egypt was led by Ilyès Maza, accompanied notably by national coaches Manar Bouhadjira and Chaouchi Fouad.

It is worth noting that prior to their departure for Egypt, the Algerian athletes held a preparatory training camp at the National School of Water Sports and Underwater Activities in Bordj El Bahri.
