The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has approved seven Algerian stadiums to host the national team's matches for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, scheduled to begin in September 2026, the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) announced on its official website.
The football governing body specified that the approved venues are: Stade Miloud Hadefi in Oran, Stade du 19 Mai 1956 in Annaba, Stade Nelson Mandela in Algiers, Stade du 5 Juillet 1962 in Algiers, Stade Ali Ammar in Douera (Algiers), Stade Chahid Hamlaoui in Constantine, and Stade Hocine Aït Ahmed in Tizi Ouzou.
Placed in Group IX, the national team will begin its qualifying campaign by hosting Zambie in the first round, scheduled for September.
"Les Verts" will then travel to face Burundi for the second round. These first two matches of the qualifiers will take place between September 21 and October 6, 2026.
In November 2026, the squad led by national coach Vladimir Petković will play two additional matches, hosting Togo at home before traveling to the capital, Lomé, for the return leg in the fourth round (November 9–17). The final two rounds of the qualifiers will be played between March 22 and 30, 2027, with the national team traveling to Lusaka to face Zambie, before concluding their campaign at home against Burundi.
The top two teams from each group will qualify for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, which will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Ouganda, and Tanzanie from June 19 to July 17, 2027.
This edition of the continental tournament will mark a historic first as it is organized by three countries together. It also signifies the return of the AFCON finals to East Africa after a 51-year absence.
A total of 48 national teams are participating in the qualifiers, including the three host nations, who will compete despite having already secured automatic qualification. The teams have been divided into 12 groups of four, with the top two from each group advancing to the final stage.
