FIFA has appointed a Polish officiating crew led by Szymon Marciniak to handle the match between Algeria and Argentine, scheduled for June 17 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City (2:00 AM Algiers time), as part of the first round of Group J in the 2026 World Cup.
Main referee Szymon Marciniak will be assisted by his compatriots Tomasz Listkiewicz and Adam Kupsik, while Australia’s Shaun Evans (referenced as Kawana-Waugh) has been named as the fourth official. Poland’s Isaac Trevis will serve as the reserve official.
The officiating of this high-stakes match has been entrusted to one of the most experienced referees on the international stage, ahead of what promises to be a thrilling encounter between Algeria, returning to the World Cup after a 12-year absence and the defending world champions, Argentine.
Following the highly anticipated showdown with the Argentines, captain Riyad Mahrez and his teammates will face Jordanie on June 23 in Santa Clara (4:00 AM Algiers time), followed by Autriche on June 28 in Kansas City (3:00 AM Algiers time).
