The Algerian junior men's boxing team secured five medals—two gold and three bronze—at the inaugural King of Jordan Cup, which concluded on Tuesday evening in Amman.
Ryad Belhidouche (50 kg) and Abdelmadjid Houari (80 kg) claimed gold for Algeria. Meanwhile, teammates Abderraouf Redouani (60 kg), Billel Lezzoul (65 kg), and Moncef Benmazouz (65 kg) earned bronze medals.
Algeria entered the competition with a total of seven boxers. Two athletes, Ismaïl Sahraoui (55 kg) and M'Hamed Chabni (70 kg), missed out on the podium after being eliminated in the quarter-finals.
The young Algerian team was guided in Jordan by coaches Ibrahim Bourenane and Abdelhalim Ouradi, while Omar Krouti, Vice-President of the Federation (FAB), served as the head of the delegation.
This competition is part of the preparation program for the young Algerian boxers ahead of major upcoming international events, specifically the 2026 Junior World Championships in Thailand and the 2026 Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in Senegal.
