The President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, has issued instructions for the immediate return of Algeria’s Ambassador to the Republic of Niger to Niamey, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs released this Thursday.
The statement read: “The President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, has issued instructions for the immediate return of the Ambassador of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria to the brotherly Republic of Niger to Niamey”.
This decision comes following the return of the accredited Ambassador of the Republic of Niger to Algeria and his resumption of duties, effective this Thursday, February 12, 2026. This decision also reflects the paramount importance attached by the President of the Republic to “strengthening ties of brotherhood, cooperation, and good-neighbourliness with Niger,” according to the same source.
