The Minister of Vocational Training and Education, Ms. Nacima Arhab, presided on Sunday at the Mohamed-Merzougui National Specialized Institute of Vocational Training in Tindouf over the official ceremony marking the start of the February 2026 session.
On this occasion, the Minister, accompanied by the Wali of Tindouf, Mr. Mustapha Dahou, oversaw the signing of an agreement between the Directorate of Vocational Training and Education and economic enterprises.
She then visited a group specializing in mining geology, as well as a topography workshop at the institute, before kicking off training for a group in entrepreneurship.
For this session, the sector recorded the registration of more than 285,000 new trainees and apprentices in training establishments across the country's various wilayas. These are distributed among various training modes, notably apprenticeship training, in-person training, and distance learning, in addition to evening classes and training intended for people with specific needs.
New specialties have been introduced in certain wilayas for this intake, particularly data analysis, as well as the installation and maintenance of solar panels.
It is worth recalling that the Ministry has adopted the National Framework of Training and Skills, which replaces the former national nomenclature of vocational training comprising more than 400 specialties distributed across 23 branches.
The sector emphasizes branches related to "priority" sectors, such as agriculture, industry, digital technology, building and public works, tourism and hospitality, water and environment, as well as renewable energies, in line with labor market requirements and the needs expressed by companies for qualified labor.
It should be noted that the vocational training and education sector counts more than 1,100 training establishments nationwide, in addition to 18 centers of excellence created in partnership with economic operators in technical and industrial fields.
Regarding the Wilaya of Tindouf, 520 registrants were recorded for this session across various training establishments, with an offer covering 14 professional branches and 61 specialties.
Eight new specialties were introduced to meet labor market needs, particularly in the mining branch: mining topography, mine driller, mine prober, laboratory technician in mines and quarries, ore processing facility manager, mine crusher operator, quarry miner, as well as railway maintenance agent.
The Minister of Vocational Training and Education continues her working and inspection visit in the Wilaya of Tindouf by visiting the Gara Djebilet mine and the primary iron ore processing unit, as well as inspecting the Mohamed-Belouizdad Vocational Training and Apprenticeship Center in the Tindouf-Lotfi district.
She will also visit a workshop for the operation and maintenance of construction machinery, launch the training of a group of apprenticeship masters, and visit the Wilaya's railway station.
