Within the framework of strengthening bilateral cooperation between Algeria and Niger, a meeting was held via videoconference on Wednesday between officials from the Sonelgaz Group and from the Nigerien electricity company Nigelec. During the meeting, it was decided to reactivate the bilateral agreement between the two companies, according to a statement from Sonelgaz.

This meeting, which falls within the framework of implementing the conclusions of the fraternity and working visit made to Algeria by the President of the Republic of Niger on February 15 and 16, was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Energy and Renewable Energies, in the presence of senior executives from both companies.

On this occasion, the two parties examined ways to accelerate the pace of cooperation and partnership between the two countries, particularly regarding the finalization and adoption of agreements currently under review.

In the same vein, it was agreed to dispatch a group of experts from Sonelgaz to Niamey to begin the study regarding the preparedness of the site selected for the construction of a power generation plant by Sonelgaz for the benefit of Nigelec; a project that aims to strengthen the security of electricity supply in Niger.

The partnership project also includes the hosting by Sonelgaz of a technical team from Nigelec, which will benefit from integrated training at the School of Electricity and Gas Engineering Professions, under the subsidiary Sonelgaz-Services, located in Adrar.

During the meeting, the Sonelgaz Group reaffirmed its full readiness, through its subsidiaries, modern infrastructure, and expertise across various fields of energy activity, to ensure the success of this partnership. This aims to reactivate joint projects and open new development prospects serving the common interests of both countries and strengthening ties between the two peoples.

For their part, Nigelec officials welcomed the reactivation of joint projects, in service of bilateral cooperation.
