African Union Summit: Commendation of the President of the Republic's Efforts as AU Coordinator on Counter-Terrorism and Violent Extremism

The Summit of Heads of State and Government of the African Union, in its 39th session which concluded today, Sunday, in Addis Ababa, commended the efforts of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, in his capacity as the African Union Coordinator on Counter-Terrorism and Violent Extremism. These efforts aim to strengthen and activate the continental program in this field, contributing to unifying and intensifying coordination among member states.

In a decision related to peace and security in Africa, the Summit called for "accelerating the implementation of the practical and concrete proposals he presented, and praises the progress made by the African Union Commission in supporting continental responses to combat terrorism and violent extremism and enhancing the institutional capacities of member states."

On the other hand, the Conference adopted the outcomes of the 12th High-Level Seminar on Peace and Security in Africa, held in December 2025 (Oran Process), praising Algeria's role alongside the A3 countries in defending African issues and interests in the UN Security Council.
