The Secretary General of the General Union of Algerian Workers (UGTA), Amar Takdjout, stated yesterday, Tuesday, in Oran that the commemoration of the double anniversary of the creation of the UGTA and the nationalization of hydrocarbons serves as an opportunity to highlight achievements and gains in various fields.
In a speech delivered during a ceremony commemorating this double event—celebrated on February 24 of each year—presided over by Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb in the Arzew industrial zone, Mr. Takdjout affirmed that Algeria "possesses human capital that allows it to win different battles, notably that of economic development in various sectors," emphasizing the importance of this "precious human wealth" in achieving economic and social development.
He considered that "Algeria's human capital is manifested through its workers, who were a bulwark for the defense of the homeland during the glorious Liberation Revolution, during the construction period, and then during the Black Decade, where they sacrificed their lives and property so that Algeria would remain free and strong in its institutions, and they are even more ready today to defend it."
Mr. Takdjout added that "the sacrifices of these workers will remain a source of inspiration for their values of patriotism and honor."
He recalled, to this effect, that the commemoration of this double anniversary represents "a moment to draw lessons from the sacrifices of the valiant martyrs and Mujahideen of the glorious revolution, as well as an opportunity to value the social and economic achievements and gains obtained by independent Algeria."
