Mobile telecommunications operator Ooredoo Algeria announced in a statement on Monday the expansion of its fifth-generation (5G) network to all of the country's wilayas.
In this regard, the company indicated that the network will be strengthened by increasing the number of stations in order to ensure "optimal coverage and a user experience in line with international standards in all regions."
Thanks to this new milestone, Ooredoo becomes "the first mobile operator to cover the entire Algerian territory with 5G," the statement noted, adding that the company "thus exceeds, in the very first year, the number of wilayas stipulated in the specifications for 5G deployment."
On this occasion, the CEO of Ooredoo Algeria, Roni Tohma, stated that this step constitutes "a strategic commitment through which we renew our promise to support our customers towards a faster and more innovative digital future."
He also reaffirmed Ooredoo Algeria's determination to "continue investing in its infrastructure and networks to offer an experience that meets international standards, while supporting the digital economy, serving Algerians, and accompanying the ambitions of the youth as well as the digitalization of businesses."
In this context, Ooredoo Algeria pointed out that all of its 4G USIM cards are fully compatible with 5G technology, allowing subscribers to easily upgrade to this new technology without having to change their SIM cards.
The service can be activated via the MyOoredoo app, through the link http://choof.ooredoo.dz/, or at any Ooredoo store across the national territory, the statement added.
