A group of ships from the Russian Northern Fleet docked this Wednesday at the Port of Algiers for a four-day stopover, according to a statement from the Ministry of National Defense.
The same source explained that, "within the framework of implementing the Algerian-Russian military cooperation program for the year 2026, a group of ships from the Russian Northern Fleet, consisting of the anti-submarine ship SEVEROMORSK and the oil tanker KAMA, docked today, March 11, 2026, at the Port of Algiers for a four-day stopover."
"During this stopover," the statement added, "the mission commander and his accompanying delegation paid a courtesy visit to the Commander of the Central Maritime Façade at the Algiers Naval Base headquarters in the First Military Region, where discussions focused on ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between the Algerian and Russian navies."
In this context, "a program has been outlined that includes mutual visits between Algerian Navy officers and their Russian counterparts to exchange knowledge and expertise in the maritime field, in addition to organizing cultural activities for the Russian crew."
