The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) announced that more than 33,000 Palestinian refugees in the occupied West Bank spent this year’s Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr away from their homes. These families faced extremely difficult conditions amid escalating violence in various areas due to the ongoing Zionist aggression.

Roland Friedrich, UNRWA’s Director of Affairs in the West Bank, stated that the escalation of Zionist settler attacks with impunity has led to deadly consequences, accelerating coercive conditions and the displacement of Palestinian communities, particularly in areas classified as “C,” which host a significant number of refugees.

He noted that more than 33,000 refugees are spending this occasion away from their homes for the second consecutive year in the Jenin, Tulkarm, and Nur Shams camps. This comes amid severe movement restrictions that have prevented families from visiting relatives, friends, or performing prayers at holy sites.

Friedrich pointed out that UNRWA has continued to provide its services, expanding the scope of its assistance during Ramadan to include thousands of the most vulnerable families. This was achieved through the provision of cash and food aid in coordination with humanitarian partners.

The Director of UNRWA Affairs in the occupied West Bank expressed his hope for the displaced to return to their homes and for peace and stability to prevail in the region.
