Today, Tuesday, in Niamey, Prime Minister Mr. Sifi Ghrieb, along with his Nigerien counterpart, Mr. Ali Mahaman Lamine Zeine, laid the foundation stone for the Algeria-Niger Solidarity power plant project. This initiative aims to support Niger's national electricity grid and meet its energy demands for both domestic and industrial use.

The foundation stone was laid in the presence of members from both governments and representatives of the institutions responsible for the project's execution, on the sidelines of the 2nd session of the Algeria-Niger Joint Cooperation Commission. The project involves the construction of a power plant through the installation of two gas turbines with a capacity of 20 MW each. This will increase the total production capacity by an additional 40 MW, contributing to the stabilization of the grid and improving service quality to meet the growing demand for energy.

The project also includes the development of the electricity transmission and distribution network within the partnership between the Algerian Electricity and Gas Company (Sonelgaz) and the Nigerien Electricity Company (NIGELEC). This collaboration aims to enhance the exchange of technical expertise and support regional integration in the energy sector.

This initiative is part of the long-term bilateral cooperation strategy between Algeria and Niger, aimed at supporting sustainable development, enhancing regional stability, and opening new horizons for economic and structural partnerships between the two countries.
