The Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Mourad Adjal, received on Sunday in Algiers the Secretary General of the African Petroleum Producers' Organization (APPO), Farid Ghazali. During the meeting, the two sides discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation, according to a ministry statement.

During the gathering, which took place at the ministry's headquarters in the presence of its executives, Mr. Ghazali reviewed the main axes of the roadmap the organization will adopt in the coming period to enhance intra-African cooperation, particularly regarding efforts to ensure the self-sufficiency of the regional market. He pointed out that implementing this strategy requires the participation of all energy actors in Algeria, especially the power and renewable energies sector.

Mr. Ghazali began a working visit to Algeria as part of his participation in the 8th Symposium of the Algerian Gas Industry Association (AIG), scheduled for Monday and Tuesday at the Mohamed Ben Ahmed Convention Center in Oran.

For his part, Mr. Adjal welcomed cooperation with the organization, stressing the need to expand its scope to include power and renewable energy activities. This expansion would open broader prospects for cooperation with the sector, thereby providing Algeria with greater opportunities to consolidate its position as an important and reliable energy partner, the statement noted.

In this context, the minister highlighted the significant capabilities and expertise Algeria possesses through its energy institutions. This makes the country well-qualified to enter the African market and secure a substantial share, acting as a partner capable of meeting the continent's needs across the entire value chain.

He also touched upon the important role that "Sonelgaz-International" can play in enhancing this cooperation, especially since it provides a framework enabling Algerian public and private companies to access foreign markets—particularly in Africa—through genuine and serious partnerships.

Mr. Adjal affirmed that "the ministry's doors are always open to all projects and initiatives that enhance Algeria's standing at the continental level, particularly those that align with the foreign policy of the Algerian Republic."
