The Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, Kamel Rezig, oversaw on Tuesday in Bordj Bou Arreridj the launch of export operations for "Made in Algeria" household appliances bound for European and Arab markets.
In this context, the Minister—who was accompanied by the Governor of Bordj Bou Arreridj, Kamel Nouicer—supervised the first export operation of Condor-branded portable air conditioners to Europe, specifically to Spain. This fulfills the first commercial order issued by major European purchasing centers for this type of product.
He also oversaw the export of split-system stationary air conditioners to Tunisia as part of an overall shipment of 46 containers. Additionally, he gave the signal to launch another export operation involving 14 containers loaded with Midea-branded refrigerators and freezers heading to Tunisia, Libya, and Mauritania.
Mr. Rezig highlighted that these results "embodied the fruits of the economic policy of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, in supporting national production, encouraging industrial investment, and accompanying exporters, which has begun to yield tangible results on the ground." He emphasized that the sector will continue working to "expand the presence of Algerian products across various international markets, focusing on high value-added products to help diversify the national economy and bolster the global standing of 'Made in Algeria'."
He noted that "major purchasing centers in Europe now rely on Algerian products, reflecting growing confidence in the capabilities of national industrial enterprises." He added that, to date, export orders exceeding 250,000 units of portable air conditioners have been registered by the economic operator Condor, confirming—according to him—the scale of promising opportunities the European market offers Algerian products.
The Minister considered that "this operation is not merely the export of an industrial product, but a clear message confirming that Algerian industry has become capable of entering the most competitive international markets after its products demonstrated compliance with European standards and specifications regarding quality, safety, and performance."
He cited several key competitive advantages enjoyed by Algerian products, including geographical proximity—where sea freight to Europe takes only two days—reduced transport costs, rapid responsiveness to client needs, and enhanced product competitiveness within European markets.
For his part, the Deputy General Manager of the Condor Group, Mohamed Salah Daas, stated that the group fulfills all technical and commercial requirements set by European purchasing centers, enabling it to export its first shipment of portable air conditioners to the Spanish market. He added that the group will continue implementing its investment program through technological partnerships with international enterprises.
Furthermore, at the industrial zone of Bordj Bou Arreridj, the Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion inspected the recently operational railway platform. Designated for consolidating the group's export containers and receiving and unloading incoming containers and cargo from various ports, this facility contributes to improving the logistical transport chain, reducing shipping times and costs, and strengthening the group's export capabilities.
