The "AZ MALL GRAND MOSTA" shopping center, the largest in the country, has opened in the wilaya of Mostaganem with an investment exceeding 8 billion DZD. This reflects the dynamic investment climate in Algeria and strengthens the service sector's position as one of the drivers of national economic diversification, the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI) said in a statement on Sunday.
AAPI specified that this project, registered with its services and having received its approval, is among the most significant private investments in the service sector.
Built on an area of more than 6 hectares, the project has a capacity to accommodate over 20,000 visitors per day, thereby constituting an integrated commercial and leisure hub serving the wilaya of Mostaganem and the western wilayas of the country, according to the same source.
The center features over 200 retail outlets representing various national and international brands, as well as leisure areas including an amusement zone, movie theaters, fitness centers, and Algeria's first indoor karting track.
It also houses restaurants, modern cafes, spaces dedicated to promoting Algerian and international cuisine, and a private specialized training school, the same source added.
The project is expected to contribute to "the creation of approximately 1,500 direct jobs, and many other indirect ones, while boosting a vast network of commercial, service, and logistics activities, thereby strengthening economic activity and local development."
The center also serves as an "economic and tourism lever, attracting visitors and consumers from different wilayas of the country, while reinforcing Mostaganem's position as a shopping and leisure destination."
"It will thus have positive spillover effects on tourism, hotel establishments, and services, while stimulating new investments in complementary activities," the same source noted.
This new shopping mall represents "a model of large-scale investments with a high socio-economic impact, thanks to the integrated commercial, leisure, and service spaces it offers, the employment and investment opportunities it generates, and its contribution to strengthening the position of the wilaya of Mostaganem as an economic, commercial, and tourist hub, while supporting the diversification of the national economy and Algeria's attractiveness for quality investments," the same source concluded.
