The Minister of Communication, Mr. Mohamed Laagab, received on Wednesday the Minister of Communication and New Technologies of the Republic of Niger, Mr. Sidi Mohamed Raliou, and his accompanying delegation, according to a statement from the Ministry.

During the meeting held at the Ministry's headquarters, discussions focused on “ways and agendas to implement the outcomes of the 2nd session of the Algeria-Niger High Joint Commission for Cooperation, held in Niamey on March 23-24, 2026. This particularly concerns finalizing the ratification procedures for the media cooperation agreement and the Algerian proposal to update bilateral agreements between audiovisual and print media institutions in both countries, ensuring their alignment with the latest developments in the field of media and communication”.

On this occasion, Mr. Bouamama expressed “Algeria's readiness to strengthen media cooperation with the Republic of Niger and explore all available opportunities in this field. This particularly includes providing Nigerien journalists and media professionals with training programs to enhance their skills and capacities, leveraging the proven expertise of various specialized Algerian institutions. Discussions also covered the exchange of expertise in other areas, such as media management, television and radio broadcasting techniques, and combating media disinformation”.

As indicated in the statement, “this cooperation embodies the shared vision expressed by the leaders of the two countries, the President of the Republic of Algeria, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and the President of the Republic of Niger, Mr. Abdourahamane Tiani, during their summit meeting held in Algiers in mid-February”.

According to the same source, it also falls within the framework of providing media support by “highlighting the new dynamic in bilateral strategic relations and the strong will to deepen and strengthen them across various fields and levels. This serves the shared interests of both countries and strengthens the bonds of brotherhood and good neighborliness between the two brotherly peoples”.

For his part, Mr. Salatou confirmed his “commitment to implementing what was agreed upon in Niamey and his eagerness to discuss opportunities for strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the field of media and communication,” as well as “ratifying the media cooperation agreement between the two nations as soon as possible”.

He also expressed his “gratitude for Algeria's significant efforts in supporting his country in this sector,” praising the political will of both nations' leaders, which aims to “achieve further progress and elevate the historical and solid relations between Algeria and Niger”.
