The United Nations Security Council will hold two sessions this week addressing prominent humanitarian and political issues, including the protection of civilians in armed conflicts, as well as following up on the developments of UN missions in Libya and Kosovo.

The Council is scheduled to hold a morning briefing session on Wednesday regarding the protection of civilians in armed conflicts, as part of the follow-up on the implementation of Security Council Resolution 2730. This resolution focuses on enhancing the safety of humanitarian workers and ensuring the delivery of aid to those affected in conflict zones, amid the growing risks facing civilians and relief staff.

On Thursday, the Council will hold another briefing session to discuss the latest developments regarding the United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo, where the Secretary-General will present his periodic report on the political and security situation in the region.

In a related context, the Council will discuss the upcoming report on the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, which covers political developments and international efforts aimed at supporting stability and holding elections, given the ongoing security and institutional challenges in the country.

These sessions are part of the Security Council's ongoing monitoring of humanitarian and political developments in several conflict zones, within the framework of its efforts to enhance civilian protection and support peaceful settlement processes in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions.
