A joint report by a group of international non-governmental organizations revealed yesterday, Monday, that millions of families in Sudan now rely on only one meal a day due to the worsening food crisis and the spread of hunger as the conflict enters its fourth year.

The report, published by "Action Against Hunger," "Care International," the "International Rescue Committee," "Mercy Corps," and the "Norwegian Refugee Council," stated that residents in the most affected areas, particularly in the wilayas of North Darfur and South Kordofan, "spend entire days without food."

According to the 2026 Humanitarian Response Plan, approximately 28.9 million people—representing 61.7% of the population—suffer from acute food insecurity.

The organizations' joint report also highlighted that agricultural disruptions, the destruction of farms and markets, and a lack of international funding have significantly hampered the ability of community kitchens and relief agencies to meet growing needs.

Since April 2023, Sudan has been gripped by an armed conflict between the army and the Rapid Support Forces, resulting in famine and one of the world's worst humanitarian crises, with tens of thousands of Sudanese killed and nearly 13 million displaced.
