Violations of the ceasefire by the Zionist army have been observed in southern Lebanon, reported the Lebanese National News Agency (NNA), adding that Zionist artillery opened fire on the town of Khiam in the south of the country.

According to the agency, five shells struck the city. Furthermore, artillery fire was reported near the border. Also according to the NNA, an ambulance was hit, resulting in several injuries.

A ten-day ceasefire with the Zionist entity entered into force in Lebanon on Friday at midnight.

The President of Lebanon, Mr. Joseph Aoun, described the direct talks with the Zionist entity on Friday as "crucial," stating that the ceasefire concluded the previous day represents the beginning of a negotiation process towards the return of peace.

"Direct talks are crucial . . . and a ceasefire represents the beginning of a negotiation process, a path supported at both local and international levels," the Lebanese president emphasized in a statement.
