The Speaker of the People's National Assembly, Mr. Brahim Boughali, was received this Saturday in Istanbul, Türkiye, by the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, Mr. Numan Kurtulmuş. This meeting took place on the sidelines of the 152nd General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, according to a statement from the Assembly.
The same source explained that this meeting provided an opportunity to review the state of bilateral relations between Algeria and Türkiye. Both parties exchanged views on ways to strengthen and develop them across various fields, in a manner that serves the common interests of both countries and reflects the depth of their historical ties.
The two sides also discussed, the statement added, the level of parliamentary cooperation between the two legislative institutions, emphasizing the importance of intensifying coordination and consultation. They aimed to elevate parliamentary relations to broader horizons, thereby enhancing parliamentary diplomacy and contributing to the support of issues of common interest on the international stage.
The statement noted that the meeting was attended by the Vice-Speaker of the People's National Assembly and Permanent Member of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Mr. Mohamed Anouar Bouchouit; the PNA Member and IPU Permanent Member, Mrs. Farida Ilimi; as well as two members of the Council of the Nation, Mr. Fateh Boutbig and Mr. Kamel Khelifati.
