Executive Decree No. 26-136, which sets the modalities for the payment of the financial consideration required for the granting of authorizations to establish television or radio broadcasting services, was recently published in the Official Journal (JO), the Ministry of Communication announced in a communiqué this Monday.
The decree aims to "organize the financial and legal framework of audiovisual activity by establishing clear rules defining the conditions, deadlines, and payment methods for the fees imposed on establishments wishing to obtain these authorizations," the source specified.
The decree also seeks to "ensure transparency and equality among various audiovisual media outlets seeking broadcasting licenses and to protect the industry against illegal practices," while "enshrining the principles of commitment and professionalism in the granting of authorizations to support the development of a structured and balanced media sector."
The publication of this executive decree represents "a qualitative milestone in the process of developing the communication sector and strengthening its professionalism," pending the promulgation of other implementing regulations related to the organic law on information, the communiqué concluded.
