Sahrawi community associations in the Basque Country commemorated the 50th anniversary of the proclamation of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) with a celebration held in the city of Bilbao, highlighting the achievements made over the past five decades.
The Sahrawi Press Service (SPS) reported that the event was attended by the official in charge of the Sahrawi community in Europe, the representative of the Polisario Front in the region, and representatives of Basque political parties. The ceremony featured several interventions by the Basque solidarity movement, which unanimously reaffirmed its support for the Sahrawi people in their struggle for their legitimate right to self-determination and independence, while pledging to amplify their voice in international forums.
The event featured various political and cultural activities and culminated in a major march through the main streets of Bilbao, during which protesters chanted slogans rejecting the Moroccan occupation of Western Sahara.
