The Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, received this Tuesday at the ministry's headquarters the Assistant Secretary of State of the United States of America, Mr. Christopher Landau, who is on an official visit to Algeria, according to a ministry communiqué.
On this occasion, Mr. Attaf held a one-on-one meeting with Mr. Christopher Landau, followed by expanded talks including members of the delegations from both countries.
The discussions provided an opportunity to "review the notable dynamics characterizing Algerian-American relations across their various dimensions" and to "examine ways to further energize them by strengthening strategic dialogue and consolidating the partnership in priority areas of cooperation, such as energy, investment, innovation, trade, agriculture, air transport, and higher education."
Both parties also addressed "several regional and international issues of common interest, foremost among them situational developments in the Sahel-Saharan region, as well as the evolution of the political process for the settlement of the Western Sahara issue," the communiqué concluded.
