The Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, Mr. Kamel Rezig, discussed this Wednesday in Algiers with the Ugandan Deputy Minister of Trade and Cooperatives, Mr. Frederick Ngobi Gume, ways to strengthen bilateral trade and economic relations and develop cooperation mechanisms between the two countries, according to a statement from the ministry.
The same source stated that the meeting, held at the ministry's headquarters on the occasion of the Ugandan official's working visit to Algeria, was devoted to reviewing opportunities for promoting trade exchanges and encouraging economic partnerships between economic operators in both countries.
The same source added that both sides discussed mechanisms for preparing a joint action plan to implement the agreed-upon objectives in the fields of trade and economic integration, focusing on supporting bilateral trade exchanges and exploring cooperation opportunities in sectors of mutual interest.
Both parties also emphasized the importance of activating the Algerian-Ugandan Business Council, as a vital mechanism to enhance communication between business leaders and open new horizons for partnership and investment.
The statement indicated that the talks also addressed ways to support African economic cooperation and strengthen bilateral partnership in light of the opportunities provided by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agreement, contributing to the development of intra-African trade and the promotion of exports within the continent.
