The Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in charge of the National Community Abroad, Mr. Sofiane Chaib, held an interactive meeting on Wednesday with members of the national community and representatives of Algerian civil society residing within the Barcelona consular district. The meeting took place during his working visit to the Kingdom of Spain, in the presence of the Ambassador of Algeria to Spain and the Consul General of Algeria in Barcelona, a ministry statement said.
According to the statement, the meeting featured a "productive interactive discussion" where attendees raised a range of concerns and suggestions regarding their conditions. It served as a "renewed occasion to strengthen direct communication channels with members of the community and to listen to their concerns and aspirations."
In his address, the Secretary of State emphasized the "special care accorded by the country's highest authorities to this authentic segment of the Algerian nation." In this context, he reviewed the "key practical measures launched for their benefit, particularly regarding the ongoing modernization of the consular services system, alongside various initiatives and programs aimed at improving the handling of their concerns, especially in the educational and cultural fields."
For their part, members of the national community expressed their "deep appreciation for the continuous interest shown by the State in optimally addressing their concerns and its constant commitment to strengthening their bonds with their motherland." They also welcomed this visit as part of efforts to "enhance bridges of direct communication with members of the national community abroad," the statement concluded.
