The Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, received a telephone call this Monday from his Iranian counterpart, Mr. Abbas Araghchi, according to a ministry statement.
The statement specified that "during this discussion, the Iranian Foreign Minister reviewed the latest developments regarding efforts and initiatives aimed at resuming the diplomatic negotiation process, with the goal of bringing a definitive end to the military escalation in the Gulf region."
For his part, the Minister of State reaffirmed "Algeria's firm conviction regarding the necessity of deploying all possible efforts to develop a diplomatic solution to this conflict, which has affected the entire region," according to the same source.
He also expressed hope that the current ceasefire be maintained and strengthened, as a prelude to establishing the foundations of a political process capable of creating the conditions necessary for achieving a lasting and durable peace throughout the region, the statement added.
