The "Memory and History" caravan set off from the Riadh El-Feth Office (OREF) in Algiers, with the participation of 1,500 young people who will travel across 17 wilayas, on the occasion of the National Day of Memory commemorating the massacres of May 8, 1945, a press release from the Ministry of Youth indicated on Saturday.
This caravan, which features the participation of young people aged 18 to 35, includes the active contribution of youth associations and leagues as part of a national journey across 17 wilayas. It aims to revive the glories of the Liberation Revolution and strengthen young people's attachment to the country's collective memory and its glorious history, the same source specified.
The launch ceremony was marked by the presentation of "remarkable artistic performances," notably a performance by the "Salil El-Ahrar" choir, as well as the organization of an exhibition retracing the stages of the history of the national struggle, in a "patriotic atmosphere expressing loyalty to the sacrifices of the martyrs and the mujahideen," the press release read.
This initiative falls within the framework of "preserving the National Memory, anchoring the values of citizenship among the youth, and teaching Algeria's glorious history to rising generations," the same source added.
It should be noted that this caravan, held under the slogan "The Memory of Generations Refuses to Forget," was launched on Friday under the patronage of the Minister of Youth in charge of the Supreme Youth Council (CSJ), Mustapha Hidaoui, and the Minister and Wali of the wilaya of Algiers, Mohamed Abdenour Rabehi.
